The Assessment Center 4 Church Planters (AC4CP) is an assessment for couples or singles seeking confirmation of God's call to start a new church. AC4CP is founded upon prayerful assessment of the desired traits of a passionate evangelist with a servant's heart and an entrepreneurial leadership ability. AC4CP stands out because of the strength of counselors Dr. Tim Gardner and Steve Johnson, and the comprehensive set of assessments designed to discern inter and intra personal insights, emotional intelligence, strengths, behavioral styles and marital health in relationship to the desired traits. The leadership from the Directors, including successful church planter Brian Rudesill, is central to the process. Church planters’ assessment centers have been held at Green Lake since 2004, with more than 400 individuals or couples assessed. Green Lake Conference Center is a premier Christian conference center on a beautiful lake in south central Wisconsin. It is a place where God has chosen to call thousands of people into ministry across the globe over the past 65 years. The assessment center is open to all churches and denominations. We invite you to read more or contact Coordinator Dr. Dave Gallagher at (602) 509-1732 to discern if we may be able to serve you through AC4CP. Assessments are also offered off-site.

Because of the nature and intensity of AC4CP, it becomes important to have a certain number of candidate/couples registered, i.e., too small of a group does not provide maximum group experiences and too large of a group does not allow the necessary personal counseling time with counselors. We have found that the optimal group size for what we desire to accomplish is between five and seven candidates plus spouses, assessors and staff.

Registrations are accepted up to five weeks prior to the assessment. Candidates who register should NOT make flight reservations until they receive word that the necessary numbers have been obtained and that the assessment will be held. Four weeks prior to the assessment, the assessment administrator will e-mail candidates and sending agents to let them know if sufficient candidates have registered.

Preparation for the assessment is as follows:

Two months before the assessment

  • We encourage all sending agents to take advantage of a free pre-screening tool available to them at www.churchplanterprofiles.com. Prescreening by the sending agent will help reduce the risk of sending someone to the Assessment who is not qualified.

Five weeks before the assessment

  • The assessment administrator will charge the candidates or sending agent's credit card.
  • An informed consent and an information form is sent to the couple.
  • References are contacted by the assessment administrator.
  • Candidates and spouses email addresses are sent to the counselors.

Four weeks before the assessment

  • Candidates and assessors make their airline flight arrangements.
  • An information form (application) is sent to each candidate to be filled out and returned within one week.
  • Candidates immediately begin working on the six instruments, which will be filled out on line. It is important that the candidate and spouse not procrastinate. Each of the six instruments will take from 30 minutes to 90 minutes to complete. Candidates must be able to commit to a minimum of 5 hours to complete the assessments in a careful yet timely manner. The candidate’s spouse is required to take them all — not just “some” -- this will provide consistency.
  • The assessment really begins 30 days prior to the assessment at Green Lake which means that we are watching to see how you respond to emails, how quickly you complete and return the application, how you respond to completing the instruments and how much time we need to spend prodding you to complete these tasks.

One week before the assessment all final details are confirmed.

Assessors: Each candidate/couple must have an “assessor.” An assessor is provided by either the sending agent, denomination or the candidate’s local church. There is no additional cost for the assessor. The assessor must be at Green Lake by day 1 morning at 9:00am (The candidate/couple do not need to be at Green Lake until 11:00am day 1). The assessor’s role is one of observation, evaluation and recommendation.

Dress: Dress is casual for the assessment.
